Who it's for
This worksheet is for artists who find writing about their own work harder than making it. Galleries, shows, and collectors all ask for some version of a bio and an artist statement, and a profile reads better when your personal story is part of it. A guided worksheet breaks the writing into parts so you can work through them one at a time. The bio, the statement, and the story each do a different job. A bio tells people who you are and where you have shown; a statement speaks to the work itself; a personal story gives a reader a reason to remember you. Working through them separately keeps each one focused, and the finished pieces can be reused wherever you are asked to introduce yourself and your work. It is free, so you can return to it whenever your work changes. Many artists find it easier to revise a draft than to start from a blank page, and the worksheet gives you that first draft.
