Frequently Asked Questions
Guidance on artwork files, proofing, print sizes, products, production, shipping, and returns.
FILES & ARTWORK
REvisART accepts print-ready PNG, JPG/JPEG, PDF, and TIFF files. For the best print quality, we recommend submitting a high-resolution file at approximately 300 DPI at your intended final print size.
The quality of your finished reproduction depends heavily on the quality and resolution of the file you provide.
We recommend 300 DPI at your desired final print size whenever possible.
Keep in mind that simply changing a file's DPI setting does not add missing detail or turn a low-resolution image into a high-resolution image. A file that prints beautifully at 8×10 may not contain enough information to produce the same quality at 24×36.
Our Print Studio may make minor production adjustments to the crop, scale, or placement of your image when necessary to ensure print quality, accommodate your selected size and margins, or help prevent important elements, including visible signatures, from being unintentionally cut off.
These adjustments are limited to minor production-related refinements.
We will not retouch, color-correct, remove or add elements, or otherwise alter your artwork unless the appropriate additional editing service has been selected and purchased.
Our Print Studio may make a slight adjustment to the crop or placement of an image to help prevent a visible signature or another important element from being unintentionally cut off.
However, we strongly recommend keeping signatures and other important details away from the extreme edges of your artwork whenever possible.
Editing beyond minor production-related crop, scale, or placement adjustments is not included with standard printing.
If your image requires retouching, color correction, removal or addition of elements, or other file modifications, the appropriate additional editing service must be purchased.
PREVIEWS, CROPPING & COLOR
No. Your on-screen preview will differ from your final printed piece.
The preview is a digital representation intended to help you visualize the approximate crop, placement, and composition of your artwork. It should not be considered an exact representation of the final color, texture, finish, or overall appearance.
Our Print Studio may also make minor production adjustments to crop or placement when necessary to protect important elements of the artwork and produce the best finished result.
Some color variation between your screen and finished print is unavoidable and is a normal part of professional printing.
Screens produce color using light, and every device varies in brightness, calibration, display settings, and color reproduction. Printed artwork uses physical inks on physical materials.
The paper or substrate you select also affects how colors appear. Because of these variables, an exact screen-to-print color match cannot be guaranteed.
Yes. This is completely normal.
Paper tone, texture, finish, reflectivity, and other characteristics affect how ink and color appear. The same image can therefore look slightly different when reproduced on different fine art papers, canvas, or other substrates.
This is one reason we strongly encourage artists to proof their artwork before committing to a larger print run.
Standard printing does not include artistic color correction or alteration of the file you provide.
If your file requires additional color correction or editing beyond our minor production adjustments, the appropriate additional editing service must be purchased.
THE $5 PROOF
Our $5 Proof gives you an affordable way to see how your artwork translates from screen to print before committing to a larger order.
The $5 Proof includes:
One 8×10 archival proof print
Premium Archival Matte fine art paper
Archival pigment inks
Flat shipping in a protective mailer
Use code FIRSTPROOF at checkout. The offer is limited to one $5 Proof per artist.
A screen cannot accurately show you exactly how your artwork will look in print.
A physical proof allows you to evaluate the actual printed color, detail, scale, margins, and characteristics of the paper before investing in a larger print run.
When reviewing your proof, we recommend comparing it to your original artwork rather than your computer or phone screen.
No. $5 Proof purchases are final and non-refundable or returnable.
PRINT SIZES & MARGINS
For fine art paper prints, the size you order refers to the paper size, not necessarily the printed image area.
If you select a margin, that margin is included within the overall paper dimensions.
For example, an 8×10 print with a 1-inch margin will have a smaller printed image area than an 8×10 full-bleed print.
The right margin depends on how you plan to present, frame, sign, or number your print.
Full Bleed: The image extends to the edge of the paper. This provides the largest image area but leaves no additional paper border for signing or numbering.
Small Margin: Provides a narrow border around the artwork and can give framers or handlers some additional working space.
Larger Margin: Creates a more traditional fine-art-print presentation and provides additional space for signing, titling, or numbering a print.
If you're unsure which presentation you prefer, a physical proof is a great way to test it.
Every artwork has an aspect ratio, and not every artwork's proportions correspond exactly with every standard print size.
If the proportions of your artwork differ from your selected print size, a slight crop may be necessary.
Our Print Studio may make minor production adjustments when necessary to preserve the overall composition and help prevent important details, including visible signatures, from being unintentionally cut off.
No. We do not intentionally distort your artwork to force it into a different aspect ratio.
Depending on the proportions of your artwork and the size you select, cropping or margins may be necessary instead.

RETURNS & ORDER ISSUES
Because prints are custom-produced from your artwork and selected specifications, print orders are generally final once they enter production.
$5 Proofs and discounted packages are final and non-refundable or returnable.
If you believe REvisART made a production error or your order arrived damaged, please contact our Print Studio so we can review the issue.
Minor differences between screen color and printed color are expected and are not considered defects.
Your device's calibration and brightness, ambient lighting, ink, paper, canvas, substrate, texture, and finish can all influence how colors appear.
An exact screen-to-print match cannot be guaranteed.
For artists who are especially concerned about color, we strongly recommend evaluating a physical proof before committing to a larger print run.
