FAQs
Frequently asked questions
1. Ordering & Account
Do I need an account to place an order?
You don’t have to, but creating an account allows you to save artwork, track orders, and reorder easily especially if you plan to dropship or manage multiple prints.
How do I place an order?
Upload your artwork file, select your print type and material, confirm your size, crop, and border, then check out securely. Once your order is received, we’ll start production and email you tracking once it ships.
Can I change or cancel my order after placing it?
Shipping is calculated based on your location and the items in your order. You will always know the shipping price before you purchase.
2. File Preparation & Color Settings
What file types do you accept?
We accept JPEG, PNG, and TIFF files. Upload your file at its full size and resolution for best results.
What resolution should my file be?
Aim for 300 DPI at the final print size. Lower resolutions can still print, but fine details may be softer.
What color settings should I use?
Submit files in RGB color mode, ideally using Adobe RGB (1998). This color space gives you the widest range and richest tones. If you’re working in sRGB, that’s fine we’ll convert it accurately during production.
To help your print look its best:
- Calibrate your monitor (tools like X-Rite ColorMunki or Spyder4 work well).
- Keep ICC color profiles embedded when saving files.
- Soft proof in Photoshop or Lightroom if available.
- Order a small proof if your project requires precise color accuracy.
Minor shifts between screen and print are natural what matters is consistency. We’ll help you get there.
3. Print Types Explained
What’s the difference between Giclée, Archival Inkjet, and UV printing?
Giclée Printing
At REvisART, every fine art reproduction is a true Giclée not a standard inkjet.
That means:
- Printed with archival pigment inks
- On museum-grade, acid-free paper or canvas
- Using a 12-color professional printer for exceptional tonal range
Giclée prints are the museum-quality gold standard for fine art reproduction and can last up to 100 years under proper indoor conditions.
Archival Inkjet Printing (for comparison)
Some print providers advertise archival inkjet prints that may use fewer ink colors, lower-grade media, or dye-based inks. While attractive, these prints lack the depth and longevity of true Giclée prints.
REvisART does not produce basic archival inkjet prints — only true Giclées that meet professional standards for color and permanence.
UV Printing
UV printing is a completely different process. Inks are cured instantly with ultraviolet light, bonding directly to the surface instead of soaking in. This allows us to print on acrylic, wood, metal, and canvas for bold, durable but non archival results.
UV prints last approximately 25 years indoors when kept away from sunlight and weather extremes.
4. Giclée Printing (Archival Pigment Ink)
What is a Giclée print?
Giclée (pronounced zhee-clay) refers to fine art prints made with archival pigment inks on museum-grade materials using high-end, 12-color printers. The result is unmatched color fidelity, detail, and longevity trusted by galleries and collectors worldwide.
What Giclée materials do you offer?
We offer two archival options both designed to last up to 100 years indoors:
- Archival Pigment Ink on Canvas – printed on pure, acid-free cotton or poly-cotton canvas with a refined texture. Each canvas is triple-primed and available in matte or satin finish.
- Archival Pigment Ink on Fine Art Paper – printed on your choice of museum-grade, acid-free papers such as smooth matte, textured watercolor, or heavyweight fine art. All are pH-balanced and lignin-free for stability and color preservation.
What does “archival” mean?
Archival refers to materials made to last for decades without fading or yellowing. They are acid-free, pH-neutral, and combined with pigment inks to ensure both visual and material longevity.
5. UV Printing (ink jet)
What is UV printing?
UV printing is a direct-to-surface method where inks are instantly cured by ultraviolet light, creating a durable finish. It’s ideal for printing on rigid or nonporous materials like acrylic, wood, metal, and can also be used on canvas for non-archival art reproduction.
How long do UV prints last?
UV prints last for approximately 5-10 years when kept indoors and protected from sunlight or heat exposure. They’re perfect for contemporary art styles and bold, vibrant finishes.
When should I choose UV vs. Giclée?
- Choose Giclée for traditional fine art reproduction, soft tonal gradients, and museum-grade longevity.
- Choose UV printing for modern, glossy, or textured surfaces or when printing on materials like acrylic, metal, or wood. Great choice for canvas art for vendor events at a more cost effective price point.
What is our UV Canvas Option?
Gallery Wrapped UV Canvases
Our UV Gallery Wrapped Canvases are printed on pure cotton duck canvas with a refined medium texture the perfect surface for contemporary art reproductions.
Each canvas is triple-primed with acid-free titanium gesso for vivid color, archival durability, and superior print quality.
This process blends the tactile beauty of fine art canvas with the resilience of UV technology, creating a ready-to-hang piece with long-lasting vibrancy.
